Lunar Eclipse In Taurus 2022

We are having a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Taurus on November 8th which is peaking at 10:59am Universal Time, yet it will begin late November 7th in Hawaii and conclude early November 9th in New Zealand. It will be a ‘Total’ Eclipse which is commonly referred to as a ‘Blood Moon’ as it will appear red.

This eclipse will be visible wherever it will be dark (and clear) in part or all of its duration. This includes all of the Americas (with the exception of small sections in Eastern Brazil), Scandinavia, most of Finland, part of Eastern Europe, most of  Asia, and Oceania. However, the entire eclipse (from beginning to end) will only be visible from from the Northwestern half of North America (including Hawaii and California), Eastern Russia, a small portion of Northeastern China, most of Japan and throughout the Pacific Ocean where the Moon will be at its highest point during maximum eclipse.

This is the second of two eclipses occurring back to back, with this one following a Solar Eclipse In Scorpio on October 25th. Eclipses reflect shifts connected to the sign they are in, planets configured to, and how they overlay with one’s natal birth chart. This plays out over the following 6 months and can begin up to 6 weeks prior. However, they are also part of a 1.5-2 year process in which most Eclipses (and Lunar Nodes) are in the same polarity of signs. This one and the previous Solar Eclipse are part of a series in the Taurus-Scorpio axis that began in November 2021 and will conclude in late 2023.

North Node Lunar Eclipse In Taurus Conjunct Uranus

This eclipsed Moon is happening close to the Lunar North Node which has been in Taurus since early this year. We are currently in an approximately two year period in which we are collectively experiencing evolutionary changes in how we incorporate the themes of this sign. Ultimately in the long term it is about increasing positive and constructive qualities of Taurus in however way this is showing up for each of us individually.

However, with this being a Lunar Eclipse with its ruler in close proximity to the South Node, over the next six months there may also be themes of moving on from things that pertain to this sign (along with Scorpio) that no longer serve us. If so, this can help to make way for new ways of how Taurus and that part of your chart is expressed in your life.

Taurus is associated with the senses, practicality, simplicity, food, nature, the Earth, the material world, loyalty, conservation, perseverance, patience, and thoroughness. It is the sign of self-worth, personal values, as well as one’s money, resources, security, and income. Ruled by Venus, it also corresponds with music, art, beauty, aesthetics, sensuality, affection, and pleasures. The bull is solid, reliable, steady, steadfast, careful, picky, traditional, habitual, and routine oriented.

Negative potential expressions of Taurus include excessive self-indulgence, laziness, inertia, sluggishness, procrastination, greed, possessiveness, and extreme stubbornness. Its energy can be closed off, incentive seeking, set in its ways, and slow to embrace change or may outright resist it. Taurus is oriented in a fixated and unidirectional way which can be either a positive or negative quality depending on the situation.

This eclipse is tightly aligned with Uranus which also brings in its own themes into this eclipse, which may or may not manifest in a Taurean way. Some of the Uranian qualities are opposite the qualities of Taurus as this planet has the potential to disrupt or shake things up in ways that may or may not be associated with this sign.

As a change seeking planet, it is associated with rebellion, revolution, social unrest, protest, reform, and radicalism. Uranus is also about freedom, non-conformity, unconventionality, progressiveness, originality, individuality, breakthroughs, innovation, invention, experimentation, flashes of insight and inspiration. It rules science, electricity, technology, metaphysics, astrology, as well as things like electric cars, airplanes, and rockets.

Uranus is a wild card which may bring surprises or sudden changes. At worst this can play out as upheavals, chaos, separations, losses, or accidents. In Taurus, this can possibly manifest as land or resource based destruction, as well as natural disasters. Restlessness, anxiety, inconsistency, and circumstances/conditions that impair our ability to focus are other ways Uranian energy can play out.

Lunar Eclipse & Uranus Opposite Sun Conjunct Mercury, In T-Square With Saturn

This eclipse opposes the Sun in Scorpio which is where the Lunar South Node is, and where the previous Solar Eclipse occurred two weeks prior to this one. Like Taurus, we are near the middle of an approximately two year period in which there are evolutionary changes associated with the themes of this sign. However, with Scorpio there is more of an emphasis on decrease and moving on from negative qualities and expressions of this sign. I recommend reading my previous Solar Eclipse article here to learn more about this.

Mercury is joining the Sun in its ‘Superior Conjunction’ during this eclipse but will be exactly aligned just over five and half hours after the peak. We may experience circumstances or developments, at this time or in the following days, that bring realizations or increased clarity around certain things that occurred or have been continually playing out throughout the previous months up until this point. However this may also be a theme that can unfold over the following half a year since this conjunction is configured to the eclipse. Considering the opposition to Uranus (with the Moon) this can happen in a surprising, upsetting, or disrupting way..

Although a shift in perception may occur which can affect how we proceed, keep in mind that Mars is retrograde until January. While this Superior conjunction can be a time of clarity in certain areas/ways, we are also in a period where we may lack understanding (whether or not we are conscious of it) around how to best apply ourselves which may or may not be connected to other themes already mentioned. This is okay because this is part of the Mars retrograde process as we will have experiences and/or results over the coming months that can help to fine tune how we direct our energy.

Saturn in Aquarius is in a T-square with the Sun conjunct Mercury and the Moon conjunct Uranus. Any shifts, changes, insights, realizations, breakthroughs, or developments that occur may be faced with or pertain to hindrances, obstacles, or the need to be cautious, disciplined and responsible. This configuration also re-activates the Saturn-Uranus square that has been occurring off and on since early 2021. This is primarily expressed as ‘restriction versus freedom’; ‘tradition versus progressiveness’, ‘convention versus originality’ or ‘responsibilities versus liberation’.

Things To Consider

What is coming up for you during this eclipse and in the days before and after? Is there anything that you need to shake up in your life? How are you going to tackle the challenges that are in the way of making your desired changes? Should you do things differently when it comes to financial matters? Do you need to get out of your comfort zone in order to make progress? Are your apparent values in alignment with who you truly are and what you seek? Is it time to liberate yourself from habitual tendencies?

These are just some examples of what can be coming up for you but not limited to these either. Keep in mind that the themes pertaining to this eclipse can play out in different periods until April 2023. It’s good to reflect on your feelings that come up during, or in the week following, this eclipse to help you in any decisions you need to make.

After the eclipse, and during the following two weeks when the Moon is waning, it can be a good time to do any sort of releasing action or process if you feel necessary. The eclipse begins at 8:02am Universal Time on Nov 8th with it peaking at 10:59am and finishing at 1:56pm. You can click here to see when the peak will be in your time zone.
